I was fortunate enough to be selected to throw out the first pitch twice
during the Diamondback's World Series year. I kiddingly asked the
booth to check out the speed of my pitch on radar. I told them I
knew I could get 70 miles an hour. Much to my surprise, it
was only clocked at 47 mph. You'll see the "serious heat" remark
on the scoreboard! I reached the glove of the catcher without a
bounce, however. They had two people throw out the ceremonial first
pitch that night. The other man, George Thorogood, told me I made
him look bad, after he threw into the dirt. I told him he was "bad to
the bone!"
